A measure of the degree of darkening of the developped photographic image, or of the ink coverage in printing.
Note :
Density values are logarithmic in scale so that a density of 0.00 is completely transparent while a density of 0.30 transmits one-half the incident light. Similarly a density of 1.00 transmits only one-tenth, and a density of 2.00 transmits only one-hundred of the incident light.
