An inorganic yellow pigment which is a finely divided solid having the formula PbCrO4, the color being due to the chromium.

Like most inorganic pigments, it does not fade appreciably on exposure to light and heat, but it is quite toxic and cannot be used in interior paints or in products that come contact with foods. It is used as a colorant in rubber and plastic products, printing inks, baked enamels, and engineering paints for steelwork, cement, etc. Combined with Iron Blue, it gives Chrome Green pigment.
