Date :Définition
An aromatic compound derived from nitrophenol or nitrobenzene; it has the three isomeric forms characteristic of many benzenoid structures, with the formula C6H4NH2OH. At room temperature it is a crystalline water-soluble powder, the color varying from white (meta form) to saffron (para form); these colors change slowly to brown or violet after long standing in light. Aminophenol is a primary source of organic dyes, which are especially suitable for furs and other forms of keratin; the para isomer is also used as an intermediate in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and as a developing agent in photography.
