Date :Définition
The use of a single fuel, or a single plant, to provide the total heat and power needed for an area or industrial site.
Note :
Most equipment used to generate electrical power depends on the use of heat generated from fossil fuels or nuclear fuels. A proportion of this heat is eventually wasted - rejected to the atmosphere in cooling towers of power stations and the like. In the concept of total energy utilization the rejected heat is used as a form of direct heating for domestic or industrial purposes. In addition, the design of the generator plant is such that a specified proportion of the heat input is deliberately used to produce direct heating, rather than to generate as much electric power as possible, it being recognized that in the heat-electricity conversion process there is energy loss.
