Date :Définition
The central receiver system focuses all of the incoming direct solar radiation on a single point rather than along the length of an absorber pipe. Consequently, significantly higher temperatures are attainable with this system than with line-focusing cylindrical distributed collectors. These higher temperatures, currently upwards of 540 °C, have resulted in greater overall conversion efficiencies of approximately 24 percent.
Note :
The basic system configuration uses arrays of tracking mirrors called heliostats, which direct solar energy to a single large receiver mounted atop a tower. The working fluid contained in the receiver is heated by the focused solar energy and then piped to the turbogenerator unit (usually located at the base of the tower) where it powers, either directly or indirectly, a conventional turbine and thus generates electricity.
