Atmosphère dont la composition est maintenue entre des limites fixées, ayant la propriété de protéger les pièces à assembler et le métal d'apport de l'oxydation pendant le chauffage, et pouvant, dans beaucoup de cas, réduire les couches d'oxydes sur les pièces et sur le métal d'apport avant que la température de brasage ne soit atteinte.
