Note :

A term used in reference to those metals which on account of their inherent properties or because of special treatment have surfaces which resist to a considerable degree of abrasive action during service.
Note :
High-carbon cast steels and certain alloy steels (e.g. manganese alloy steel) are usually regarded as "wear-resistant"; wear resistance can be improved by heat-treatment such as martempering, austempering and by surface treatments such as flame and induction hardening, carburising and nitriding; other methods are available such as hard chromium plating and the processes used for weld depositing hard facing materials; since "wear" is usually employed in a very general sense, corrosion- and heat-resisting materials are sometimes included under the term wear-resisting materials.
Termes :
- wear resistance
- resistance to wear
- resistance against wear
