Date :Définition
A procedure for periodic checking of facilities used for the production of goods and services to determine whether they meet health and safety standards established by law.
Note :
Inspections began in England in the early part of the 19th century with the development of the factory system and the widespread exploitation of women and children which led to demands for stringent legislation to prevent sickness and epidemics resulting from the unsanitary conditions in the factories. The factory laws in England were extended gradually beyond concern with the safety and welfare of children and women from England and Europe, were adopted in Massachusetts with the development of factory productions on the eastern seabord. Factory laws and inspection exist throughout the United States and are concerned with a wide variety of problems including sanitation, fire protection, safety appliances, ventilation and dust, elevator openings, payment of wages, and numerous other details designed to protect the wage earner and improve the conditions under which he works.
