Any legislation of a federal, state or municipal body which reduces the dangers or threats to the safety of employees or is concerned with the protection of their general welfare.
Note :
These laws are designed to protect the worker from exploitation by his fellow man and also to reduce the effects of various types of economic and other forms of insecurity generated by the industrial system. The scope of protective labor legislation is broad and deals not only with conditions applying to special groups. It also comprehends laws which establish minimum conditions of work and wages. Laws concerned with various types of insecurity are generally those in the area of unemployment compensation, accidents, and workmen's compensation.
