The heat required to convert a substance from the liquid to the gaseous state with no temperature change.
Note :
It is usually measured at the normal boiling point of the substance, i.e., the temperature at which the liquid boils at one atmosphere pressure. It is usually expressed as the heat required to convert a definite weight of the substance into a gas, e.g., kilocalories per gram-formula weight.
