Date :Note :
The presence of vanadium in steel raises the temperature at which grain coarsening sets in and under certain conditions increases the hardenability. It also lessens the softening on tempering and confers secondary hardness on high speed and certain other steels. It is an active grain refiner and is a strong deoxidant. Vanadium is an important constituent in many types of steel, for widely varying applications, e.g. nitriding and heat resistant steels, tool steels and steels for wearing plates and other fully hardened parts. In conjunction with molybdenum and/or tungsten, vanadium has a marked effect in enhancing creep resistance.
