A system whereby a random sample of drivers are stopped and given breath tests, thereby ensuring that those who are over the limit but show no immediate evidence of impaired driving will be detected, as well as those who show signs of impairment.
Note :
High-visibility random breath testing can lead to sustained reductions in fatal crashes by at least 20 % and in alcohol-involved traffic crashes by at least one-third.
