Note :

Date :Note :
The first usable gas pocket lighter was developed in France around 1950. These lighters were originally equipped with an exchangeable container to which the valve was fixed. Butane gas or sometimes a mixture of butane and propane gas may be used. Lighters with exchangeable containers are still in use; although their place has been taken by a container firmly connected to the mechanism which the user himself can refill with topping-up ampoules over a topping-up valve. For table lighters equipped with a friction wheel, ignition is now often replaced by an electric (battery) or electromagnetic ignition unit (without battery and flint). The piezoelectric ignition system is the most recently introduced.
