An ancient, decorative lighting device composed of a candle or an oil lamp placed inside a ventilated contianer.
Note :
lanterns were made from many materials, such as wood, bronze and glass, and came in a variety of styles. An inepensive and attractive solution to the lampshade problem is provided by paper lanterns. These folded paper shades come in a variety of shapes - round, oval, and cylindrical. Most of them are made in Japan, though some sophisticated, expensive versions come from Scandinavia. Many people use them as permanent but easily replaceable fixtures especially in contemporary settings.
