((...)) it has a branched-chain structure and is isomeric with n-butyl alcohol. It is quite flammable but has only moderate toxicity.
Being similar to butyl alcohol in structure and properties, its applications are of the same type; it has been widely used in hydraulic fluid systems and as a solvent in paints and coating resins. Its major use is in the manufacture of isobutyl acetate for nitrocellulose lacquers.
