The range of surface temperature in which glass is formed into ware in a specific process.
Notes :
Term defined in British Standard BS 3447: 1962 or BS 952: 1953.
Term defined in American Standard ASTM C 162-56.
The "upper end" refers to the temperature at which the glass is ready (viscosity of 10² to 10³ Pa.s), while the "lower end" refers to the temperature at which it is sufficiently viscous to hold its formed shape (generally corresponding to a viscosity greater than 104 Pa.s). For comparative purposes, when no specific process is considered, the working range of glass assumed to correspond to a viscosity range from 10³ to 106 Pa.s.Terme :
