  Any one of a number of black crepes used for mourning purposes.

  Notes :

  The term "crepe" originally indicated a mourning fabric.
  
  In England, specifically it referred to a crepe with a distincts peeble. It was widely used during the long period of mourning following the death of the Prince Consort Albert, during Queen Victoriaûs reign.
