A window with two panes of glass, one or both of which may slide horizontally across the other. Like the double-hung window, it operates within the panel of the wall.
Note :
Some window panels operate by sliding from side to side in horizontal sashes. These combine the interesting proportions usually found in casement windows with the weather tightness usually found in double-hung windows. However, to provide equal ventilation, they require more lateral wall space than standard double-hung windows.
