Définition :
Action de creuser dans le sol un trou étroit par rapport à sa longueur pour reconnaissance ou tout autre but (alimentation en eau par exemple).
Note :
On ne distingue pas, comme en anglais, le forage par percussion dans un terrain non rocheux (boring) du forage par rotation en terrain dur (drilling).

Action of driving a hole in hard ground by means of a drilling rig for expolratory or other purpose. The rig uses rotary tools armoured with diamond, hardened steel or other hard material. The rotary tool is usually cooled by water or air which also removes the drill cuttings.
