Chromosome found in the oocytes of many vertebrates and some invertebrates /which are/ characterized by loops extending laterally /and giving/ them the appearance of a brush.
Note :
These chromosomes have a highly characteristic "feathery" appearance which, with high magnification, proves to be a consequence of separation of the chromosome into two strands. The separated strands from lateral loops along which chromosomes are spaces.
