Adoptive immunotherapy consists of the transfusion or grafting of the cellular machinery responsible for the immune reaction. This can be a transfusion of lymphocytes when a short-term effect is desired, or on the other hand, if a long-term effect is required, then stem-cells, that is bone marrow, will be grafted.
