Depth of the region between 2 trajectories which define either the design limits of a space vehicle about to enter a planetary atmosphere, or the desired landing area (footprint).
Notes :
The overshoot boundary defines an entry path which allows just sufficient deceleration so that entry is completed in a single pass.
The undershoot limit defines an entry path sufficiently shallow for the astronauts to be able to withstand the deceleration loads and for the ablative heatshield not to be melted away.Terme :
