() process ((that)) can be divided into three distinct and consecutive steps: codon-directed binding of aminoacyl tRNA, peptide bond formation, and translocation.
Note :
Upon binding of the initiator aminoacyl tRNA to the initiation complex at the A site of the ribosome, peptide bond formation occurs. For protein synthesis to continue, translocation has to occur and involves three processes: 1. removal of the deacylated tRNA from the P site of the ribosome; 2. movement of the peptidyl tRNA from the A to the P site so that a new aminoacyl tRNA can bind at the A site; 3. movement of message by one codon. Elongation factors and GTP hydrolysis are required for all three processes.
