The protein responsible for the positioning of the AA tRNA complexes in the "A" site of the ribosome.
Note :
In E. coli two major proteins (called EF - G and EF - T) are involved in the elongation step for peptide chains. EF - T is split into two subfractions, EF - Tu and EF - Ts. Energy released from the hydrolysis of GTP by EF - G or by EF - T is thought to be essential for chain elongation. EF - Tu catalyzes the GTP-dependent binding of aminoacyl tRNA to the A site of the ribosome. EF - Tu seems to have one binding site for amino-acyl tRNA and perhaps another for GTP, GDP or EF-Ts. EF - Tu and EF - Ts correspond to two of the four subunits of bacteriophage QB replicase.
