Définition :
Variable se référant directement à une caractéristique d'une unité collective en tant que telle.
Note :
Dans la traduction française de l'article « On the Relation between Individual and Collective Properties », publiée par Boudon et Lazarsfeld, apparaît uniquement l'expression « propriété absolue ». Bien que le terme « propriété » soit plus précis, il n'exclut pas l'usage du terme « variable ». C'est pourquoi, dans un souci d'homogénéité, nous avons choisi ce dernier. La même remarque s'applique aux variables contextuelle, comparative, collective, relationnelle, globale, analytique et structurelle.

Note :
In the article "On the Relation between Individual and Collective Properties" Lazarsfeld and Menzel use indifferently "properly" and "variable" for absolute, contextual and structural variables.
