A decapeptide hormone elaborated by the median eminence of the hypothalamus that stimulates the release of follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone from the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland.
Note :
Abbott Laboratories recently won FDA approval to market a treatment for prostate cancer called Lupron. The drug is a modification of a natural hormone and is 60 times more potent than the original.
