A disease caused by the transfer into an immunologically deficient host of allogeneic immunocompetent cells which, not being rejected, mount a reaction against the host's histocompatibility antigens. In animals, it produces wasting disease (run disease). In man, graft-versus-host disease involves principally the skin, the alimentary tract, and the liver, though other organs may be affected as well.
