A combinatorial categorial grammar (CCG) is a "categorial grammar" which views the rules for creating new categories as implementations of combinators. This gives it a new rule in addition to the functional application rules originally proposed, that of functional composition.
Note :
This rule allows functions of type X/Y and Y/Z to combine and form a new function X/Z. Because of the associated semantics, every valid string in the language can be assigned a functional meaning and partial strings (such as "the man who...") can be assigned the value of a partially evaluated function.
