To date, presymptomatic gene testing focused on single-gene conditions, such as Huntington's disease, and has been applied to situations in which individuals are considered "at risk" because of family history. As the technological frontier expands, presymptomatic genetic testing raises complex issues, namely ethical and logistical challenges due to moment of onset and severity of the screened disorders and possible limited treatment options.
