The milk sample is refrigerated over night and then held at room temperature for seven hours. It is then incubated at 22 °C for 17.5 to 23.5 hours, depending upon the room temperature. The warmer the weather, the shorter the time of incubation. Five ml. of the milk is placed in a test tube and put in a bath of boiling water for five minutes. The tube is then removed and tilted to expose a thin film of milk. If clots or particles of milk adhere to the side of the tube, the milk is regarded as unsatisfactory.
