Epidermal growth factor is a member of a group of molecules which, in addition to the true neurotrophin family, have been shown to have neuroprotective properties.
In 1991, searchers discovered that EGF helps embryonic cells from the striatum - a critical Parkinson's area - to grow and to differentiate into neurons and their supporting glial cells. EGF has also been found to counter experimental Parkinson-like damage to nigrostriatal neurons.Termes :
