In Schank's system there are a small, fixed number of primitive acts (at one time there were eleven). Finer distinctions between verbs are represented by restrictions on the conceptual cases of primitive acts. For example, while "give" is an example of a PTRANS in which the actor is the same as the origin, "take" is an example of PTRANS in which the actor is the same as the destination.
